Coming Sept. 2007: Book One, The Pit

This is my first-ever posting. I recently signed a contract with Rain Publishing Inc., to publish my six-book epic fantasy series, The Death Wizard Chronicles. Book One, entitled The Pit, will debut September 2007, followed by one book a month after that until February 2008.

You've heard this many times, I'm sure, but for me this is the culmination of a lifelong dream. Now comes the business of getting people like you to read my series. In future blogs, I'll publish details on when and how to buy!

The DW Chronicles
is not for children and teenagers -- or the faint of heart. But if you like graphic fantasy that crackles with excitement yet still has a lot going on between the lines, I think you'll love my series.

In a groundbreaking paradox, the Death Wizard, a champion of good, derives his power from a source traditionally seen as negative -- death. His nemesis, an evil sorcerer, derives his power from the sun, the benevolent source of all life. Their struggle to control the fate of the planet Triken will take your breath away.

In an original twist never before seen in this genre, the Death Wizard is able to enter the realm of death during a "temporary suicide." Through intense concentration, he stops his heartbeat briefly and feeds on death energy, which provides him with an array of magical powers.

The series also is a love triangle involving two desperate characters attempting to come together despite the machinations of an all-powerful psychopath with incestuous cravings.

Graphic and action-packed, spanning a millenium of turmoil, The DW Chronicles carries readers on a journey they will never forget.

Do you fear death? The Death Wizard does not. Find out why.

I can attest to this being Jim's lifelong dream -- or at least since seventh grade, when I first met Jim. Even then, the Death Wizard loomed. Looking forward to your first book, Jim! Many congrats!

Mimi, thanks much for the congrats! You probably have heard me talk about this several hundred times over the years.

Hey Jim,
Great job and congrats. Look forward to reading more of your blogs in the coming months and can't wait to see the Death Wizard Chronicles in print.

Hi!
I don't know if you remember me or not but I'm Tamy Seal (Well, Krolewicz now.) and we went to Lakewood High together. I believe we have talked to each other at, at least one, of the reunions but they all run together for me so it's difficult to remember. : )
I live in Columbia SC now so we are not far apart. What brought you to Clemson?
It's great that your books are being published! I shared this blog with my youngest son and his wife. They love Sci Fi Fantasy and I'm sure they will like your books!

God Bless!

Tamy : )

Dear Tamy:

Yes, I remember! My gosh, it's been a long time ... thirty-plus years. I never went to any of the reunions, though. Always seemed like I was too busy or I had some other excuse. Now I wish I had gone to a couple of them.

My wife's elderly mom lives in Clemson, and we came here three years ago to be near her. Since then I've been writing like a madman. Only one book of the six-book series to go.

Thanks so much for passing my blog on to your son and his wife. It's wonderful of you to do so. (Keep in mind that this series is sort of R-rated. I hope you and/or they won't find that offensive.)

I plan on writing additional posts at least once per week.

Jim,
Finding a new and fresh fantasy author is exciting and your comment "do you fear death, the death wizard does not - find out why." That has my attention. Looking forward to your series

Thanks so much for your comment! Getting interest started in a blog is a slow business. I believe my series has a lot going on between the lines. Some might even find it psychologically healing. But there's plenty of action, as well. If you do choose to read Book 1 and beyond, please let me know what you think! (jsmhimes@yahoo.com)
